2ic Pallets has various fields for 'reference' data.
Docket Number is the most important and used to identify the pallet movement.
Reference and Con Note are the other key fields and while they are both text fields and may be used interchageably, there are some differences to help decide what data to put in what field.
Con Note is use for tracing pickup ('on') movements to delivery ('off') movements. For transport companies it is obvious to record con note numbers here but tracing may be used by others as well, so it can be any reference code or number that links on's to off's.
Reference is usually the receiver's reference that allows them to verify the receiving the equipment.
Both fields make it on to most pallet company invoices, so usually there is little risk in switching the data recorded in each field.
Below is a summary of where the reference fields appear on various pallet company invoices.
